Your boat is primed and your boat trailer is ready to be hitched. Here’s a look at five boat accessories that will make this summer a memorable one.
Ski tubes
A growing number of ski tubes are morphing into much more than mere inflatables. The Sportstuff Poparazzi Triple Rider is a ski tube that changes the game completely with its wing-shaped bottom and high-rise tower. Three riders can lie, sit or kneel on the towable. The EVA foam body allows riders enough control to steer the ski tube over the wake. It’s not cheap, but it’ll certainly hog the limelight for years to come.
Underwater towables
Underwater boarding has been around for about 10 years and there are a few on the market – the Reef Surfer, Abyss Board and the Subwing. These devices allow the rider to be dragged underwater with hydroplanes that pivot to allow port and starboard movement. Tilted together, they allow the rider to dive or surface. The Reef Surfer and Subwing are very similar. Both are comprised of two pivoting hydroplanes, while the Abyss Board is somewhat more complicated. The pick of the bunch is the Subwing with its innovative design and materials.
Waterproof Bluetooth speakers
The smartphone revolution has had the knock-on effect of legitimising other markets, notably the portable Bluetooth speaker market. Fortunately for folks into boating, there is now a range of portable Bluetooth speakers that are fully waterproof. The Ecostone ECOXBT Bluetooth speaker has a waterproof rating of IPX-8, which is as good as it gets for electronic devices. The EXOXBT will continue to operate even when fully submerged. It also has large handles, making it easy to hook to your boat or ski tube.
Waterproof smartphone and tablet cases
There’s no point having a waterproof Bluetooth speaker if your smartphone or tablet isn’t also waterproof. There is now a huge range of rugged waterproof, shockproof and dustproof cases. The LifeProof range of cases is one of the more popular. Available for iPhone, Galaxy S5 and iPads, LifeProof’s nüüd cases allow you to touch the screen while offering full protection.
Marine-grade BBQs
The obvious limitations for a regular BBQ on a boat are space, safety and corrosion resistance, but marine-grade BBQs are designed meet those challenges. The Kuuma Stow N’Go 160 marine BBQ is built completely from polished stainless steel. You can choose between a regular gas version and one that takes those convenient Coleman propane bottles. It has fold-down legs for use on flat surfaces, adjustable airflow for windy conditions and a range of accessories are available including a tote bag and various mounting options.
Any of these great marine accessories will improve your enjoyment on the water and help you get the most out of your boat.
